42nd STREET

A collaborative program between the West Hartford Department of Leisure Services and the Department of Fine and Performing Arts, the West Hartford Summer Arts Festival (SAF) is preparing to open its 32nd Season with the classic musical 42nd Street. Under the leadership of a professional artistic team led by the Artistic Director, Sean Harris and Musical Director Marc Kaplan, SAF takes young adults through the total theatre experience from audition through performance. Emphasis is on both a high quality production and a positive learning experience for everyone involved.

Auditions are open to singers, actors, and dancers ranging in ages from 14-25. Auditions will take place on June 5th and June 6th at the Elmwood Community Center, 1106 New Britain Avenue in West Hartford. There is an audition fee of $10 which can be paid by cash, check or credit card. Please call 561-8160 for an audition time. Prepare 1 song in the style of the show and be prepared to tap. Callbacks, if needed, will be held on June 13th.

Rehearsals will be held at Hall High School, 975 North Main Street, West Hartford from 6-10pm, Monday through Friday beginning June 23rd. There were also be one Saturday and one Sunday rehearsal. The performances are held July 31st- Aug 2 at Hall High School. Curtain time is 7:30pm.
